As I understand Office 2010 came pre-installed on the system and now when you try to open Office application it prompts to enter a product key. This might be because, the Office 2010 that came pre-installed on the system is a trial version of Office. As the trial program got expired its prompting to enter the product key while using the Office application.

The product key behind the computer may be for the operating system and may not work for Office program.

There will be either Office 2010 Starter (which is a Original Equipment Manufacturer copy) or Office 2010 trial program that comes pre-installed on the system. Hence check if you have Office 2010 Starter as well as a trial program installed on the system. If yes, then uninstall the trial program, repair Office 2010 Starter and check if it helps.

To check which Office program is installed on the system:
